Visas

  • Your passport must be valid for 6 months after your travel dates to gain Visa entry. It is recommended to apply for renewals 9 months early if it is expiring 6 months or less after the wedding.

  • You WILL need a visa to travel to India.

  • Apply for a tourist e-visa 30 days or less, and no less than 4 days prior to your date of arrival.

  • Ensure your flights are booked to apply for your EVisa.

  • Visa app has a few confusing questions:

    • Have you lived in the country for 2 years of which you’re applying for visa to? —> say “No”

    • Passport ordinary or official? —> say “Ordinary”, unless you have something special through the military/government

    • Citizenship number —> NA for US Citizens

    • Reference address —> look in Whatsapp group, it’s sent there.

  • Visa app also crashes a lot. A few tips:

    • Have a scroll through the application and keep all the data ready.

    • Move fast. The family history section is particularly crashy. Get through that one quickly

    • Make sure your pic of yourself is ready in <500kb in jpeg format

    • The first page of your passport (where your photo is) inpdf format <300kb

    • Don’t use the same photo for the two photo uploads. It specifically says to use different ones

    • Type quickly to avoid timing out
